Five levels of learning evaluation

Our learning impact analysis framework builds on research evidence including the Phillips ROI Model - a practical method to tie the costs of training programs with their actual results.

The Learning evaluation model has 5 levels:
1. Reaction: did the learners like the program?
2. Learning: did the learners learn from the content?
3. Application and Implementation: did the learners deploy the learning on the job?
4. Impact: did the learning impact business results?
5. Return on Investment: did the learning investment payoff?

Generally, not all learning efforts will be evaluated at all five levels. For example with the Sales Champion coaching program, the basic evaluation covers levels 1-3. An option is to extend the assessment of the coaching program up to level 5, for example for corporate clients.

GET INSIGHTS ON YOUR LEARNING
Example of Sales Champion learning evaluation
Step 1: Baseline assessment

Before the coaching starts, a baseline assessment is carried out, in which you and your colleague or supervisor assess your level of competence.

Step 2: Development plan

Assessment will help you to identify where the most significant gaps in your skills are and draw up a development plan to address them.

Step 3: Deployment

You will assess your progress during and immediately after the Sales champion coaching.

Step 4: Follow-up

After about 3-6 months of the coaching program and honing your skills, the 360 assessment will be repeated to show you the results of your learning.
